What Sutradhar means
In Sanskrit theatre, the sutradhar is the narrator who walks on before the first scene and ties the whole play together. Nobody remembers the thread-holder. Everybody remembers the story.
We hold the thread. The NGOs tell the story.
Sutradhar is a youth-led event management team from Pune. We build one thing properly: a social gathering where grassroots organisations get a real stage, corporates find CSR partners worth backing, and the community gives with its eyes open.
Most NGOs on our stage run on a handful of people and a budget that would not cover a marketing agency's invoice. What they have never had is a room full of the right people. That is the room we are building on 1 August.
Why we do this
Good work goes unfunded for a boring reason: nobody with a chequebook has ever heard of it. Sutradhar exists to close that gap for ten organisations at a time.
A Pune where an NGO's reach is decided by the quality of its work, not the size of its marketing budget.
Produce a gathering good enough that people come for the performances and leave having backed a cause they had never heard of that morning.
Every rupee and every donated item is logged, sorted and handed over to a named organisation — and we keep the record of which one.
The day, start to finish
Doors open at 11 in the morning and the last performance ends at 6. Come for an hour or stay for all of it — the day is built so either works.
Why this one is different
Participating organisations
Elder care, child welfare, animal rescue, the environment, women's collectives and youth development — ten organisations working across Pune, in one room, for one afternoon.
Inside the venue
Every participating NGO gets a 6×4 ft stall — a premium display space to show the work, meet visitors and take donations in person.
Each stall is a working window into the organisation, staffed by people who can answer for the numbers.
Walk in with questions. Walk out having done something specific for a named organisation.
The redistribution drive
The reason most people stop giving is that they never find out what happened next. So we wrote down every step, and we will tell you which one your contribution is at.
Donations come in at the venue, at the stalls and by UPI. Every contribution is logged as it arrives.
Items are checked and matched against what each NGO has told us it actually needs. Nobody receives a truck of things they cannot use.
Contributions go to the named organisations, in person, with a record of what was handed to whom.
We share the record with our donors and partners, so giving to Sutradhar is not the last you hear of it.
Ways to give
You do not need a large cheque to be useful here. A bag of school books is worth more to some of these organisations than a bank transfer.
Give by UPI in under a minute, from anywhere — you do not have to be in Pune on 1 August to be part of this. Bank transfer and cheque are also welcome; write to us and we will send the details.

Donations are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G. Your certificate is issued after your contribution — email us with your transaction reference and PAN.
